Academic Support SMU Tutoring Support

We offer peer tutoring in a variety of ways at SMU. You can receive support for your classes from another SMU student, either online or in person. You can also find external tutors for a different perspective, or for writing help. Overall tutoring is a great way to study for test, solidify lecture information, and clarify difficult concepts.

SMU Peer Tutoring

Individual tutoring appointments with SMU peer tutors are scheduled through the Accudemia platform. Instructions can be found below:

We offer subject tutoring in all programs (except social work and DNP, which are coming soon) and have tutors available for almost all classes within each program.

External Tutoring

We offer external tutoring through the platform Brainfuse. Here you will find tutors who are not affiliated with SMU. Most students use Brainfuse for writing support, but it is also useful for health sciences topics if our SMU tutors are fully booked.

Group Study Sessions

Each program has a designated tutor coordinator(s) who organize group study sessions for each cohort. They are familiar with the most difficult courses and concepts and work to help each cohort succeed on a collective level. They will reach out to let you know when these sessions are being scheduled.
